Hello First District!
The first part of this year has been full of meetings and training. I have attended most County Meetings, have visited a few Posts on their meeting days. I’ve also attended some of your special events.
I see most Posts are keeping up with memberships and working on Buddy Checks. The Buddy Check program is important with finding out more about our members and if they need any help. Sometimes they just need to know that someone cares.
We have the 1st District Fundraiser for Veterans Outreach of WI set for March 23 at River City Lanes 730 Cornerstone Crossing in Waterford. Registration starts at 1030am, bowling is 12-3pm. $30 a person or $180 a tea of 6. We have 12 lanes and would like to see them filled up. There will be basket raffles as well. This money being raised is going to Veteran Outreach of Racine to help replace the emergency funds they needed for a new cooler in their Pantry for Veterans. Some of the money will also go to build new tiny homes in the Tiny Home village. I will be mailing the flyer to all Posts in January. Please call Tom Visintainer if you want to Bowl, enter a team or have a item to add to the raffle.
Speaking of raffle tickets, I have received raffle tickets from the Department for each Post to sell. They need to be turned back into the state by July. I will be giving them to County Commanders at the next meeting. This is money needed to keep the programs going that we run every year.
I want to thank every Post for being part of this great organization. Continue fundraising and working with your community to help our veterans, youth,and our American legion Family.
